Interesting take on using Sketchup compared to Revit Architecture…

I was talking with Casey, our resident Revit expert, this afternoon about the transition from AutoCAD to Revit and how it must be like the transition from hand drafting to CAD was for some of our more chronologically experienced colleagues.  Having a few years on Casey myself, I graduated school when AutoCAD was still the primary software for design documentation and still a few years away from hearing the term BIM (Building Information Modeling).  In my day (it really hasn’t been that long!) any kind of 3D rendering was done in programs other than AutoCAD and was taught in completely separate classes.  A student would take AutoCAD classes to put it on their resume and take FormZ or 3D Studio Max classes to put in their portfolio.
